An adult should not wear a mala with less than 84 beads plus the bindu. Any number over that is fine.
What is Rudraksha?
Rudraksha, a powerful accessory of spiritual seekers, has been used since ancient times to enhance your inner growth and channelize certain energies. Botanically known as Eliocarpus Ganitrus, Rudraksha are the dried seeds of a tree, which grows in select locations of South-East Asia, predominantly in the upper Himalayan Mountains.
It is also called “Tears of Shiva” and there are many legends connected to Lord Shiva that describe its origin. The word Rudraksha comes from "Rudra" (name of Shiva) and "Aksha" meaning tears.
